What a winter we have had or should I say "what winter". For us diehard Minnesota residents this winter to date really has not existed. The golf course finally has enough snow to cover the greens, fairways and tee boxes. Normally we have sliders using the hill on the right side of #1 fairway but only recently have I seen any use of the hill. The only traffic on the golf course is an occasional cross country skier, snowshoer and the 30 to 35 deer that are still finding enough grass to feed on without much digging. The 2012 Dues Statements were sent out in early January so if you have not received your statement please call the clubhouse and I will make sure that I get one out as soon as possible. The deadline for paying your dues is March 1st to qualify for your complimentary green fee tickets. For those of you that have paid already I would like to say "Thank You" for being early and another "Thank You" for those of you who along with their membership donated additional dollars for the course improvement and equipment funds. I am sad to report the passing of one of our longtime members George McFarren who passed away three days ago. George was an original Shareholder (#100) and Member here at HCC from the very beginning and even though the last couple of years his play was limited to mainly Thursdays he still enjoyed playing the game even if was only nine holes. I know I speak for everybody who knew George that we want to express our condolences to Maxine and the entire family for their loss. |
