September 24th

Congratulations go out to Chuck Johnson who made a hole-in-one September 17th on hole #11 (170 yards) using a "5" wood.   This was Chuck's second hole-in-one his first one was on hole #8, so way to go Chuck.

A big "Thank You" to all the people who generously donated money for the purchase of a defibrillator which we now have in the club house.  The 18 Hole Ladies Group was very generous with their $500 contribution and we thank you for this.  Over 20 staff and members took part of a training session on Monday, September 16th, to learn how to use the new defibrillator.

Keith and his crew were able to aerify all the greens last week (Tuesday and Wednesday) and now he is waiting for some warmer temperatures to start the healing process.  He is currently working on the fairways and with the three extra holes he is able to work on three and still have 18 holes open for play.    He very much appreciates your patience on these projects.

As the golfing season here at HCC draws closer to the end as a member you had to appreciate the condition of your golf course throughout the summer.  Guest golfers that played here raved about the overall condition of the course and could hardly wait until they played again and said that they would tell all of their golfing friends to make a trip to play here.  So, the next time that you see Keith, Mike or any of their crew please let them know how much you appreciate their efforts in making your course such a great place to play.

TEE IT FORWARD.  Enjoy your round of golf, putt for birdies and pars more often, play faster and score better.  Does this sound like something that you would like to see happen in your golf game?  If it does, TEE IT FORWARD, move to the set of tees that best suits your golf game.  Too many golfers are playing from a set of tees that plays too long for them.  The USGA and the PGA of America are both supporting this program.  A good rule of thumb for men golfers who cannot hit a drive more that 220 yards you should be playing from a set of tees that play around 5800 yards which here at Headwaters is the gold tees.  Most golf courses have four sets of tees and some courses have as many as six sets.  Unfortunately our most forward set of tees are the red markers and that is where the majority of our ladies play from, so there is no tee it forward for them so we have brought some of our fairways closer to the red tees to help the ladies who don't hit their drives as far as they used to.  We believe that once you TEE IT FORWARD you will be hitting more lofted clubs into the greens instead of fairway woods and hybrids and you will be enjoying the game of golf the way it was meant to be.  TRY IT YOU WILL LIKE IT.
